Should she move on, even though she's in love?

In the book I'm writing, a girl (the main character) befriends a boy and the two fall in love. But his parents are evil and planned for the two to meet and for her to gain the boys trust so he can later on kill her. But he's in love with her and lets her go. Should she move on and marry someone else (possibly her bestfriend) or live her life waiting for him? And if she waits for him, should they have had a child before he left?
