Do you think racism was a result of slavery or slavery a result of racism?

yea, yea, slavery ended a long time ago. Yea, yea racism has been around since the bigging of time. But this was a topic in my world history class a couple weeks ago and i was just wondering what you guys think. Slavery started because of the sugar plantation trade by the way because of the rise the desire for tea in europe and some other things... just alittle background information and as you know they used the Amerindians (american indians) first but there were not enough of them and they died out so they started taking slaves from africa (who died just as quick but there were much more available to replace them) So yea based on this i kind of think racism is a result of slavery yano because even nobody bothered to educate the slaves or anything so the whites just saw these uneducated people and innately began to hate them (because people always hate people who are different i guess) anyway, what do you think it was?
