Why does the preponderance of economic evidence show small gov is better for society let liberals ignore this?

only in the small fringes of the economic community do they support large centrally controlled government the liberals advocate. It is clear with out a shadow of a doubt that the results from smaller more localized government produce better results for society. The war of ideas is over why do liberals still cling to a unsupported fantasy of large centrally government planned societies?
