Writers: I'm having trouble starting this chapter?

For a moment I wandered if I was dead but I gradually became conscious of sounds around me. I kept my eyes closed trying to find out where I was. I could hear an annoying beeping sound somewhere far away and whispers. I couldn't breathe well so I gasped for air, it burned my throat and smelled of disinfectant. My mouth tasted strangely sour. I realized I was in a hospital. The pain from last night was still there, it only seemed numbed for the moment, another proof that by some miracle I was not dead. I opened my eyes but a strong white light made me close them again. I opened them again more carefully, letting the light be filtered through my long eyelashes. I tried to move my hand and the small screen by my side registered the move with a loud almost annoyed beep.
